Thank you for joining the OAAA. In case you don’t know much about CAAs, we are mid-level anesthesia providers similar to CRNAs. However, we are educated by anesthesiologists and licensed through the Ohio Medical Board. There are about 15 CAA programs across the country. These are two-year Masters degree programs which require a premedical undergraduate degree. The first CAA school was here in Ohio – Case Western Reserve University. We share many of the same strategic goals of the OSA, especially regarding physician-led anesthesia care. We want to protect the Anesthesia Care Team model of anesthesia delivery, which is the lifeblood of both of our professions.
